AIP LSGS
Welcome to the Sion Qualification web site provided by the Airport Authority.

The use of VFR doesn’t require any special authorization.
The IFR approach and departure procedures is limited to flight crew  holding a special authorization issued by the Authorities (see AIP Switzerland, section LSGS AD 2.22.1.1 ) due to the geographical situation of the Sion Airport that lies in mountainous terrain. The FAF of the IGS approach starts at 25.7 NM from the ISI DME Antenna  and the glide path is at 6° . From 7 NM ISI DME begins the visual segment with an approach angle of 4.0°.
